Dr. Cody H. Mcnutt

I love serving as the Senior Pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of Covington, Georgia.  I am married to Sally, and we have three daughters - Laine, Elise, and Anna Claire.  Sally and I have lived in Covington since November 2013 and we love it!

I received a B.A. from The University of Arkansas (Communication, Religious Studies) in 2003...GO HOGS!  I then earned my Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  My doctorate is in Preaching, but also focused on Baptist History and Systematic Theology.  My dissertation was titled, "The Ministry of Robert Hall, Jr.: The Preacher as Theological Exemplar and Cultural Celebrity."

While in seminary, I had the joy of serving for 8 years as the pastor of New Heights Baptist Church, which eventually merged with Antioch Church during my transition to FBC Covington.

I also served as an Adjunct Professor of Preaching at Boyce College, a Junior Fellow for the Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies, and a Garrett Fellow for Dr. Donald. S. Whitney.

My desire and passion as a pastor is to be used of the Lord to shepherd the body of Christ through God-glorifying, Christ-centered, and Spirit-empowered expository preaching and teaching.  I hope to lead the body of Christ to grow in Christlikeness and to be equipped for the work of ministry and the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
